Over the past few days, more details about Samsung’s upcoming mid-range phones have been revealed. Just yesterday, the possible design of the Galaxy A36 was leaked. Now, the Galaxy A26 has appeared for the first time, revealing its processor and some other details.

Galaxy A26 uses an Exynos 1280 chip

An unannounced Samsung smartphone with model number SM-A266B appeared in Geekbench’s database. Looking at Samsung’s model numbering, the phone will be launched as the Galaxy A26, and it will have 5G connectivity. The upcoming mid-range phone appears to be running Android 15 (most likely One UI 7.1).

The phone uses a processor with codename S5E8825, associated with the Exynos 1280. Digging through this Geekbench listing, we found that the processor is running at higher clock speeds than what the chip usually runs at. It has ARM’s Mali-G68 GPU. The listing also reveals that the Galaxy A26 has 6GB RAM.

The Exynos 1280 has two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2GHz. However, this time, its performance cores are clocked at 2.6GHz. So, it is possible that Samsung overclocked the chip or used a better fabrication process so that the chip could reach higher speeds without getting hotter.

What else to expect from Galaxy A26

Not much else is known about the phone. Hopefully, similar to the Galaxy A36, Samsung has used an Infinity-O screen for the Galaxy A26. If that is the case, the phone will finally look like a modern device, unlike the Galaxy A25, which has a U-shaped notch on the screen to accommodate the front-facing camera.

Since the Galaxy A25 already has a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera, there might not be any improvements on that front with the Galaxy A26. The Galaxy A25 also has a 5,000mAh battery and 25W fast charging, so the Galaxy A26 could end up using the same specifications.

The phone could run Android 15 out of the box and get six major Android OS updates (till Android 21).
