Vijayawada: Guntur district police seized around 60 gram of MDMA from a private travel agency office and arrested two persons involved in transporting the drug from Bengaluru. The drug is valued at approximately 1 lakh.
The arrested were identified as Shaik Yousaf Shareef (27) and Battu Donald (29), both residents of Guntur. Police seized 66.26 gram of MDMA, three mobile phones, an iPad, a portable electronic weighing machine, and drug tubes used for inhaling.The arrested were produced in court and were remanded.
According to S Satish Kumar, SP, Guntur, on receiving credible information about transportation of drugs, police reached the area opposite NTR statue, near RTC bus stand at Potturivarithota on Thursday night. Noticing the cops, the accused attempted to flee with a bag but were nabbed. Yousaf became involved in MDMA racket while working as a software employee in Bengaluru, where he was introduced to them by an acquaintance. After being dismissed from his job, he returned to Guntur and, along with Donald and two others, became addicted to drugs. Their friends, who are involved in hotel business in Hyderabad, also became addicted and used Yousaf to buy drugs from Bengaluru.
He said his friends in Hyderabad sent him 1 lakh to buy drugs. On Wednesday, he received MDMA worth 75,000 from a contact in Bengaluru, concealed inside a lantern light
