Vijayawada: Stating that the Centre is committed to providing pucca houses to the poor, Union minister of state for rural development and communications, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said that they have launched digital mode for selection of beneficiaries. He said that they have moved to digital mode to eliminate scope for irregularities.
The minister reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAYG) with the officials here on Monday.He said that the Centre is committed to provide affordable housing for all. He said that they have also decided to fast track the release of financial assistance to the beneficiaries to avoid further delays.
“We have directed the officials to take all possible measures to complete the pending housing units on war footing basis. There will not be any delay from the department to clear the payments,” said Dr Chandrasekhar.
He said that they have developed an exclusive mobile application ‘Awaas’ for selection and screening of beneficiaries.
He said that they have completely eliminated the role of middlemen in the selection of beneficiaries and that, around two crore beneficiaries will be selected under PMAY-G scheme for providing pucca houses.
