
Hyderabad: Fearing an attack from a troop of monkeys that swooped in on her house, a woman, Bongoni Laxmi, tried to escape and, in the process, tripped, fell down, and suffered a fatal injury in Khanapur town, Nirmal district, on Monday afternoon.
Police said Laxmi, 58, was residing at Vidyanagar in the town along with her husband Ganga Goud and her son’s family.Around 3pm on Monday, she was sleeping in a shed outside her house when suddenly she woke up to a noise made by the troop of monkeys.
She woke up from the cot and tried to run into the home, fearing an attack from the monkeys. In the process, she tripped and fell on a sharp edge on the floor. She sustained a deep injury and became unconscious. Her family members noticed her bleeding from the head and rushed her to the Khanapur Govt Hospital but she was declared brought dead.
On a complaint from Ganga Goud, a case under Section 194 of the BNS was registered, Khanapur sub-inspector Gaikwad Rahul said.
Meanwhile, locals said they were facing inconvenience following an unprecedented monkey menace in the town. They said they were fearing to move on the streets due to the monkeys. tnn
