Andhra Pradesh's Nellore court sentences YouTuber to one year imprisonment for playing with railway safety

TIRUPATI: The Special Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for Railways, based in Nellore, sentenced an YouTuber to undergo one year simple imprisonment for being reckless and for playing with railway safety and endangering passengers lives.
Kongara Rami Reddy, an engineering student created a YouTube channel named ‘WeltonRocks’ in 2019 and uploaded videos of train collision with objects like gas cylinders, bikes, toys, fruits, crackers, fish, chicken, eggs etc.
His act of recording a video on the track between Yerpedu and Rachagunneri railway stations became widely popular on social media and also brought him financial earnings.
Heera Singh, an inspector from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Renigunta, registered a case under Crime No.879/2019, charging him under sections 147 and 153 of the Railway Act for endangering public safety and property.
Following investigations, a charge sheet was filed in the court, which found Rami Reddy guilty after examining the witnesses.
The judge P Vinodh, in the judgment delivered on Thursday, sentenced him to one year of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.1000.
