GUNTUR: In yet another incident of crime against minors, a 13-year-old Dalit girl was found murdered in a village under Chebrolu mandal in Guntur district on Monday night. Police said the girl, who was a class 7 student at the local government school, was found lifeless under mysterious circumstances in the house of a man of the same village.
The girl went to school on Monday morning and reportedly left after a few hours saying she was ill. When the girl’s brother, who is a class 9 student of the same school, returned home after school hours he found his sister had not reached home yet. He asked her friends and learnt that she left the school in the afternoon itself.
He along with his friends searched for his sister across the village. Later, they found the footwear of the girl in front of Nagaraju’s house. As the house was locked, he peered through the window and found his sister lying on the floor with injuries on her neck.
Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Guntur general hospital for autopsy.
Tenali DSP K Ramesh said Nagaraju (36), a dhobi in the village, was living alone for the past three years as his wife had left him.
Police said accused killed minor to take revenge
He is said to have developed a relationship with the victim’s mother. However, the relationship ended recently. Police suspect Nagaraju murdered the girl to take revenge on her mother. “We did not find any injuries on the victim’s private parts to establish sexual assault. However, we will conclude if she was raped and murdered or only killed once we get the autopsy report. We have formed special teams to nab the accused,” Ramesh said.
It may be recalled on July 7, a nine-year-old minor girl was raped and killed by three minor boys in Nandyal district. They later threw the body into a canal. The body is yet to be traced.
On July 13, a 40-year-old inebriated person allegedly sexually assaulted a six-month-old baby girl in a village under Ramabhadrapuram police station limits in Vizianagaram district. The heinous incident came to light on Sunday following the arrest of the accused.
