Hyderabad: A 76-year-old woman died on the spot after her grandson allegedly pushed her down along with the chair she was sitting on from the second floor of a building at Kavadiguda in Secunderabad on Tuesday after a dispute over Rs 50.
Police said the deceased, Kota Susheela, was ill and confined to her house.
According to police, the accused, Challa Nithin, 31, resorted to this brutal murder after his mother Kalavathi refused to give him Rs 50 for his travel expenses.
Police said that around 5.30 pm, Nithin had an argument with his younger brother about dropping him off at work. When his brother left, Nithin asked his mother Kalavathi for Rs 50 so that he could go to work.
When Kalavathi refused to give him the money, Nithin threatened to kill her mother.
Kalavathi warned him not to do such a thing and went down to fetch water. In a fit of rage, Nithin approached his grandmother, picked her up by the chair and threw her down. She landed on the concrete road below, sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.
A murder case has been registered and a hunt is on to nab Nithin, said D Raju, Gandhinagar SHO.
