Mahindra & Mahindra has five new born-electric SUVs in the pipeline, slated to arrive by 2026. The first one to come out of the stable will be the Mahindra BE.05, which will make its debut in late November 2024. Prices are likely to be announced a couple of months after its official unveiling. The carmaker might also showcase the production-ready Mahindra XUV.e8 alongside the BE.05. Mahindra’s new born-electric SUVs will be based on the INGLO modular platform, which is scalable to different wheelbases, lengths, and widths.
The INGLO architecture supports two different capacities of battery packs – 60kWh and 80kWh, using Prismatic and Blade cells, respectively. The 80kWh battery will deliver a WLTP-rated range of 450km. Both batteries will support fast charging of up to 175kW, enabling charging up to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. Mahindra’s INGLO-based electric SUVs will come with V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality and offer AWD and RWD drivetrain options.
The Mahindra BE.05 will measure 4,370mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm. Similar to the concept, the production-ready version is likely to feature ample glossy black finishes on the front grille, headlamp cluster surrounds, side panels, and mirror caps. The spy images reveal that the BE.05 will sport Mahindra’s twin peaks logo, dual-tone alloy wheels, a sloping roofline, and a sporty rear diffuser.
The interior’s major attraction will be the dual digital screen setup – one functioning as an infotainment system and the other as an instrument cluster. The BE.05’s cabin is likely to stay true to its concept, featuring an airplane-inspired gear lever, a center console with an engine start/stop button, a new two-spoke multifunction steering wheel with an illuminating BE logo, a drive mode selector, a front armrest, and cup holders.
Mahindra’s new born-electric SUVs are confirmed to come with features such as Adreno X with EV-specific menus and displays, a 16-speaker sound system from Dolby Atmos, 3D surround sound, active noise cancellation, HUD, onboard 5G connectivity, OTA updates, a Level 2 ADAS suite, V2L capabilities, and more.
