Flight from Hyderabad gets hoax bomb threat

Hyderabad: A flight from Hyderabad received a bomb threat on Friday, briefly disrupting services from the city’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). Though it eventually ended up being a hoax call, the threat led to initial panic among staff of Indigo flight 6E108, to Chandigarh. The security personnel ran a thorough inspection of the aircraft, disembarked all passengers and screened every individual, before the operation could be resumed.
The flight was among the over 20 others that received similar threats throughout the day.
“In line with our strict safety protocols, all necessary precautions are being taken, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities. The safety and security of our customers and crew remain our highest priority. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers and appreciate their understanding during this time,” read a statement issued by Indigo.
Over the last two days, at least half a dozen flights from Hyderabad to various domestic and international destinations — Jodhpur, Kolkata, Bagdogra and Jeddah — received similar bomb threats, wherein the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay for thorough checks before resuming operation.
