An Akasa Air spokesperson said some of its flights operating on October 24 have received security alerts. “The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are monitoring the situation and are in touch with the security and regulatory authorities. We are following all safety and security procedures in coordination with local authorities,” the spokesperson said in a statement. Other airlines are yet to issue a statement regarding the same.
The Centre recently pulled up Meta and X as the hoax messages were posted and circulated on social media. The IT Ministry on Wednesday slammed X and Meta and said that the situation amounts to “abetting crime”. The officials of the IT ministry also questioned its representatives on the steps taken to stop such alarming rumours from spreading.
Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the ministry is looking for “serious solutions” to curb the menace and the government is mulling to make legislative amendments to deal with the crisis. The central government is also planning to amend the Aircraft Security Rules to enable the authorities to put the perpetrators on the no-fly list.
