Hyderabad: Around 1,200 students from various schools, junior colleges, NCC units and their teachers from five zones within the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate had a first hand experience of policing, public safety, weapons, and the technology used by them during the Open House held in view of the police commemoration week in the city.
During the event held on Friday, cops demonstrated to the students 19 different types of weapons used, which include AK-47, INSAS, SLR, LMG in the assault category and pistols, bomb detection devices, and different types of metal detectors.
K9 Unit also displayed their skills and the students were given a demo by various categories of K9 dogs – Narcotics, Sniffer, Tracker and Assault. The Mounted Police unit comprising horses and the police band also enthralled the students with their skills.
DCP Women & Child Safety Wing, Srujana, explained the importance of excelling in school and understanding how police work.
Police also explained to students the ill-effects of drugs, their penetration into schools and how to stay away from them and report them.
