I am really enjoying the car. The click you feel and hear when shifting from 2nd to 3rd is quite addictive.

So, I spent my Saturday afternoon getting a few things done on my new old Jimny. I am really enjoying the car. The click you feel and hear when shifting from 2nd to 3rd is quite addictive.

Now time for updates:

I had bought a dash cam during an Amazon sale in September (70mai Pro Plus+ A500S Dual Channel Dash cam (2.7K) for around 11K). Got this fitted at one of Gurgaon’s many car accessory shops. They did a good job overall – except that the rear camera wiring is somewhat visible from the rear window. Paid INR 700 for the installation.

After this, the next stop was Detailing Bull (DB) for an interior and exterior clearing. Spinny did not do a good job with the cleaning.

DB did a fine job (as usual) cleaning, rubbing and polishing the car overall.

I also had one more very important thing to do – “GET RID OF THE WINDOW VISORS”. With all due respect to folks who put this in their cars, I, from the bottom of my heart hate them. I dont see any utility in installing them. The plasticky feel is a big turn off for me. But removing them turned out to be quite a task for the guys in Detailing Bull. When they removed the visors, it left glue marks which were almost impossible to get rid of – it was coming off but very slowly. They used IP and what not but it did not come off.

Then the inevitable happened. Out came the blade. Heart in my mouth, I watched. Like a neuro surgeon this guy got to work – and slowly got rid of the glue from all the 4 doors. Once the main gluey bits were out – they used some chemical (IP?) to take out the residue. Done. Neat. No scratches. Jimny looks so clean now. Here are some pictures.

Next steps:

1. Get good mats. Have ordered GFX from Amazon.
2. Get the steering wheel leather wrapped from Rahul in Palika Bhavan/Bazaar. The Zeta steering wheel gets slippery if your palms get sweaty.

P.S: Not affiliated to DB but they do a stellar job every time I go there.
