Hyderabad: The Times NIE, Newsmakers meet held at ROOTS College, Jubilee Hills on Friday, was a roaring success with close to 200 students from over 50 schools in the city participating in it.
Hyderabad district collector, Anudeep Durishetty, presided over the event as chief guest along with Prof B P Padala, chairman of ROOTS college, who was the guest of honour.
The students were very enthusiastic and keen on learning new things through the event.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by an interactive session with a senior journalist from The Times of India where students discussed different aspects of journalism and asked questions about the profession.
Later, they also engaged in an interactive session with the district collector where he busted different myths about preparing for civil services examination. Students also asked him questions on how he could crack the examination and how he stayed focused through the journey.

“It’s always fascinating to see the inquisitive side of young kids. Their enthusiasm and awareness have rubbed off on everybody. Roots collegium is very happy to have conducted this event,” he said.
The students found this event very useful and were enthusiastic about asking questions and clearing their doubts.
Smarani and Neha from Oxford Grammar school shared their experience. One of them said: “Attending this event was a great experience for us. After this, we are mulling taking up journalism as our career.”
