Telangana High Court: Telangana High Court Mandates Municipal Approval for Compound Walls |

Civic body nod must for raising compound wall: HC

Hyderabad: Telangana high court has made it clear that approval of municipality is compulsory to construct a compound wall — permanent or temporary — and that the courts cannot interfere in the authority of municipality via writ petitions.
Justice K Lakshman issued this interim order while hearing a petition filed by K Uma Maheswaramma, wife of YSRC former MLA Katasani Rambhoopal Reddy of Panyam in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, questioning the action of HYDRAA that demolished a compound wall and sheds they built in a nine-acre agricultural land at Ameenpur near Patancheru on the outskirts of Hyderabad. HYDRAA razed them 45 days ago on the ground that constructions in the farmhouse were in FTL of Ameenpur lake.
The petitioner wanted to reconstruct the temporary compound wall around the farmhouse. Vedula Srinivas, counsel for the petitioner, urged the court to allow the construction of the compound wall on a temporary basis.
The court declined the request and said they cannot make any constructions in the farmhouse till they get approval from Ameenpur municipality. The court also said that it was the duty of the local body to check the status of the land before according permissions for such constructions.
