VIJAYAWADA: In a swift operation, the NTR Commissionerate police rescued three children (two minor girls and one minor boy, all are below 16 years old) who went missing from Vijayawada city, at Secunderabad railway station on Friday.
The three children, who were admonished by their parents for neglecting studies and addicted to mobile phones, left their homes with few valuables in Vijayawada, boarded a train and reached Secunderbad railway station.
The minors, including a brother and sister who are students of a school at Bhavanipuram locality in Vijayawada city, left their homes on Friday morning. After searching in vain, parents of the minors lodged a complaint with the police.
Speaking to TOI, DCP West Zone, T Hari Krishna said based on the complaint from the parents of the children, we have formed more than ten special teams to trace the missing children. We have alerted the police in neighbouring Telangana and Tamil Nadu to trace the minors. Our teams have examined the CCTV footage in the various places in Vijayawada city, and it was noticed that the children boarded a train to Secunderabad and We have alerted the GRP and RPF personnel in Secunderabad, he added.
The missing children were rescued on Friday night only in Secunderabad and they were brought to Vijayawada city. Our investigation has revealed that two youngsters (minor boys) of the Bhavanipuram locality helped the three children to travel from Vijayawada to Guntur and to Secunderabad. With the continuous efforts of the more than 100 police personnel, we have traced and rescued the children, DCP added.
