Vijayawada: Bapatla rural police nabbed the accused in the murder case of a moneylender near Chaptu in Suryalanka village. Kokkiligadda Chandrasekhar (24) was arrested on Sunday near a restaurant on the Bapatla-Suryalanka Road.
According to Bapatla DSP G Ramanjaneyulu, on September 16, Bachu Yesu Babu (45), a resident of Hanumantharao Colony in Bapatla Town, was fatally stabbed by Chandrasekhar, who was working as his finance collection assistant for one month.Yesu Babu, who ran a small finance business in Bapatla area, had entrusted Chandrasekhar with collecting repayments. However, Chandrasekhar failed to provide proper accounts, leading to disagreements between them.
On the day of the incident, Chandrasekhar called Yesu Babu to collect finance repayments. Yesu Babu informed his wife and went to meet Chandrasekhar. Later, Yesu Babu, despite being stabbed, managed to ride his bike to a nearby shop, where he collapsed and informed a local resident, Govardhan, that “Chandrasekhar had attacked him over a financial dispute.” Yesu Babu succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Following a complaint from Yesu Babu’s wife, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The police utilized both physical evidence and technical analysis to locate the suspect. The investigation revealed that Chandrasekhar had been misappropriating the finance money collected from Yesu Babu’s clients. Fearing that Yesu Babu would discover his actions and confront him, Chandrasekhar planned to eliminate him. On September 16, when the two met under the pretext of collecting repayments, Chandrasekhar attacked Yesu Babu with a knife.
