VIJAYAWADA: The govt is planning to revive the original master plan regarding the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) limits.
The state has already asked officials to prepare proposals to revive the original master plan.

The previous YSRCP regime had removed several areas from CRDA limits and merged them into neighbouring urban development authorities. The move to restore the original masterplan is expected to aid the growth of areas adjacent to capital city limits.
Municipal administration minister Dr P Narayana alleged that the YSRCP regime was hellbent on down grading the capital city’s image, brand value and its growth. He said that the previous govt had consciously taken several decisions to kill the growth of the mega capital city and added that equal growth of all areas is very important for a state to develop. “For instance, several developmental works, including a mega park, were developed in Sattenapalli town with CRDA funds in the past. However, the YSRCP govt removed Sattenapalli town from CRDA and merged it with the newly created Palnadu Urban Development Authority (PADA), which has no funds for taking up big-ticket developmental works,” he said.
CRDA officials informed the minister that around 1,610 sq.km area has been removed from the CRDA limits in the last five years. The TDP govt created CRDA with an area of 8,603 sq.kms in 2015.
In fact, the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led govt also removed Undavalli, Navuluru, Bethapudi, Yerrabalem, Nidamarru, Penumaka villages from the core capital city area and merged them with Mangalagiri-Tadepalli Municipal Corporation despite opposition from farmers.
