Hyd all set for Diwali dhamaka, markets pin hopes on biz boost

Hyderabad: With Diwali just around the corner, shops in Hyderabad are gearing up for a ‘festive dhamaka.’
From glittering showrooms to colourful roadside stalls, retailers are counting on the days leading up to the festival. Hoping for strong sales, many retailers have already stocked their shelves, with many expecting crowds to pour in by Sunday.
Ravi Jain, owner of a jewellery shop in Abids, said: “We have seen moderate sales so far, but with Dhanteras just two days away, we’re fully stocked and ready to welcome more customers.”
Not just jewellers, textile stores are also gearing up for an influx of shoppers. At Begum Bazaar, garment shop owner Pooja Mehta said, “We are expecting a lot of families over the weekend. The spirit of Diwali is all about new clothes and we want to make it special for everyone.”
Small vendors are as optimistic as the big stores. Amar Yadav, who travelled from Anantapur district, AP to sell diyas near Monda market, said: “This is our most important time of the year. We’re hoping for good business.”
Ration shops are also seeing an increase in sales, especially of sweets and dry fruits. “We have seen a steady flow of customers. I am sure it will pick up,” said shopkeeper Suresh Patel in Koti.
