New Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam Flights Launched to Boost Connectivity |


Two new Vij-Vizag flights inaugurated

Vijayawada: Union civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu inaugurated two new flights between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, fulfilling a long-standing demand for improved connectivity between these key cities. The new flights, operated by Air India Express and Indigo, aim to enhance travel convenience and support regional growth.
The Air India Express service, which Rammohan Naidu inaugurated at Visakhapatnam Airport on Sunday, will depart from Visakhapatnam at 9:35 am, reaching Vijayawada’s Gannavaram Airport at 10:35 am. The return flight leaves Vijayawada at 7:55 pm and arrives back in Visakhapatnam at 9 pm. Meanwhile, Indigo’s flight would depart Vijayawada at 7:15 pm and reach Visakhapatnam at 8:20 pm, with a return trip leaving Visakhapatnam at 8:45 pm and arriving in Vijayawada at 9:50 pm. With these additions, there are now three daily flights connecting Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
“Many travellers had asked for more flight options between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. This is the first time we’re launching two services simultaneously on this route,” the Union aviation minister said.
He highlighted that the increase in available seats is likely to bring down airfares, with ticket prices expected to start from around 3,000. He also emphasised Visakhapatnam’s potential for further development, noting that central and state govts’ commitment to bolstering infrastructure in the city. Plans include establishing direct flights between Visakhapatnam and Goa, enhancing Visakhapatnam’s connectivity with other regions. An international-standard airport is also under construction in Bhogapuram, and an air service university is planned for the same location.
