Hyderabad: Continuing its fight against unqualified individuals practicing medicine, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) in the last one week or so, has raided establishments of close to 45 quacks or unqualified individuals who were practicing medicine in Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Parigi, Tandur and Moinabad.

In Hyderabad, at multiple locations, the special teams of the Council raided the premises of clinics being run by nearly 20 individuals with no MBBS qualification.

Some of the areas in Hyderabad where the Council doctors conducted field inspections include LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Moosarambagh, Vanasthalipuram, Gurram Guda and Shaheed Nagar areas.

“Even in the heart of Hyderabad there are fake doctors and their prime targets are poor and middle class families. Such quacks are ruining the lives of innocent people. About 20 fake doctors were found during these inspections who had illegally prescribed various types of antibiotics, steroids and narcotic injections to gullible patients,” Vice Chairman, TSMC, Dr. G. Srinivas.

The Telangana Medical Council also conducted surprise inspections in centres that were being operated by 20 fake doctors at Vikarabad, Parigi, Tandoor and Moinabad.

The TSMC has filed cases against the 20 fake doctors under NMC Act 34, 54. Till now up to 300 FIRs have been filed across Telangana and further inspections will continue, TGMC Chairman Dr. K. Mahesh Kumar, said.
