Visakhapatnam: Security checks at Visakhapatnam International Airport confirmed no explosive threats on two IndiGo flights, marking this as the second such incident in 24 hours. The IndiGo airline’s station manager received notification from their regional security head about threatening tweets targeting multiple flights, specifically flights 6E917 (Chennai to Visakhapatnam) and 6E969 (Bangalore to Visakhapatnam).
This incident followed a previous hoax bomb threat on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad. Airport director Raja Reddy confirmed both flights landed safely at Vizag airport. Following standard operating procedure (SOP), the aircraft were moved to isolation bays for thorough security inspections, after which they were declared safe.
Official reports indicated the Chennai-Visakhapatnam flight departed Chennai at 4:39 pm instead of 3:55 pm and hence, arrived at 6:03 pm instead of 5:10 pm in Visakhapatnam. Similarly, the Bangalore-Vizag flight left Bangalore at 4:22 pm instead of 4:15 pm and reached its destination at 5:59 pm.
