This is a short ride log from Bangalore to Kerala via Kodaikanal and back to Bangalore.
We are a group of 6 friends with mutual interest in bikes and rides. The plan for doing a week long ride was kindling our brains for long time and we decided to do it in the 1st week of Oct , as that was the right time after the places we planned to visit had completed its first phase of the monsoon rains. The weather was also perfect for the ride and we booked our rooms in the Zostel accordingly.
Our Ride schedule,
Day 1[Oct 5]- Bangalore to Dindigul
Day 2 – Dindigul to Poombarai [Kodaikanal] Via France
Day 3 – Kodaikanal to Vagamon Via Kumuli
Day 4 – Stay in Vagamon
Day 5 – Vagamon to Shornur Via Thirussur
Day 6 – Stay in Shornur
Day 7 [Oct 11]- Shornur to Bangalore Via Coimbatore
Our Rides,
2 Himalayan 452’s from Bangalore
2 Himalayan 411’s from Bangalore
1 BMW 310 GS from Bangalore
1 BMW 1250 GS from Coimbatore
Friend in BMW 1250 joined us directly in kodaikanal as he reached there a day prior with his other riding group from Coimbatore.
I had to return directly to Bangalore from Vagamon due to a critical office commitment. My friends continued the ride to Shornur and made this ride extra special by watching the super star movie “Vettaiyan” on the first day of release in Shornur. Without doubt we are hard core Thalaivar Fans
A fulfilling trip to cherish for long time. perfect places, Perfect weather, perfect rides and absolutely perfect group of friends. what more one can ask for ?
Starting with a line up of our rides while descending from Kodikanal to Poomabarai. A mesmerizing spot just above the clouds.
The 450 Duo’s. Mine and my friend’s from the same batch – Dec 2023
The BIG DADDY of the trip, BMW1250 GS. What a machine! This already created an urge for upgrading to next segment. But have to wait for sometime.
Friend’s 411 tastefully modified with all the suitable accessories.
My RAMBO . Added the Windshield extender from Prospec and HJG Aux lamps before the trip. Happy with this additions. They did a great job.
The “Legacy” and the “New”. Legacy proved it is the best than New in few aspects. especially the initial torque it produced in the hill roads.
I am still not convinced about having a Top box somehow . So managing it with a Duffle bag and Bungee chords.
Couple of view’s from Vagamon Zostel.
If you look closely, The Aux lamps are blacked out with filters as Kerela is strictly against Aux lamps and have hefty fine if we are using it. I will share more details on how I did the black out filters myself as i could not source it in shops.
411 while descending from Kodaikanal. Damn !. Look at the aesthetics of the machine. Absolute Art isn’t it ?
