Hyderabad: A 58-year-old electrician from Nizamabad district was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for the remainder of his life after he was convicted of raping his friend’s minor daughter and impregnating her.
XII additional metropolitan sessions judge, Hyderabad, T Anitha, while delivering the verdict on Wednesday, imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Boggula Sailu, and awarded Rs 7 lakh compensation to the girl.
The survivor and other witnesses testified against the accused. “DNA profiling, which proved the accused impregnated the girl, made the case even stronger. Appreciating the evidence, the court delivered the verdict,” said additional public prosecutor A Ram Reddy.
According to police, the girl’s family was residing in Bowenpally and her father was working in a function hall. Sailu, who became acquainted with him at the workplace, frequently visited their home.
He trapped the girl, then 14 years, and raped her on multiple occasions. In April 2020, the girl fell sick suddenly, and a subsequent medical examination revealed she was in the fourth month of her pregnancy.
When asked, she revealed how Sailu raped her on multiple occasions. Bowenpally police registered a case against Sailu and arrested him. Later, with the court’s permission, the girl’s pregnancy was terminated, and the foetus was sent for forensic and DNA profiling.
The court later took up the trial, examined the witnesses, forensic, medical, and documentary evidence, and pronounced the accused guilty. After the court delivered the verdict, the accused surrendered before the court, and he was shifted to prison.
