Toyota Electric SUV Launch Details Confirmed – Creta EV Rival

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its first-ever electric car (eVX) early next year, as is Toyota Kirloskar Motor. However, Toyota’s electric SUV will arrive in the second quarter of the next financial year (Q2, 2025). This EV will be based on the upcoming Maruti eVX but will carry a different design language. The new Toyota electric SUV will compete with the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX. Both the Maruti eVX and Toyota’s eVX-based electric SUV will be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat-based facility. The new Toyota electric SUV will also be exported to markets like Africa, Japan, the Middle East, and Europe.

The forthcoming Toyota electric SUV will draw most of its design elements from the Toyota Urban SUV concept, which was revealed last year. The concept was designed on an all-new, born-electric architecture that will underpin the Maruti Suzuki eVX and Toyota’s version of the eVX. Platform sharing will help both carmakers achieve competitive pricing. The new skateboard architecture will be derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard platform. It won’t just be the platform; the Maruti and Toyota EVs will also share the interior layout, features, components, and powertrain.

Inside, the EV is likely to feature a floating center console with a rotary dial, a frameless rearview mirror, a two-spoke steering wheel, a dual-screen setup (one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster), a 360-degree camera, and ADAS tech.

Similar to the Toyota Urban SUV concept, the new Toyota EV will come with both FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems. Specifications of the model are still under wraps. However, Toyota’s electric SUV might come with a 60kWh battery pack and an electric motor, offering a range of between 400 km – 500 km on a full charge.
