Unmasking the Quacks: Fake ID Cards and Illegal Medical Practices in Telangana | Hyderabad News

Quack caught with fake ID cards issued by association

Hyderabad: Quacks operating across the state not only have a highly organised network, but recent raids have revealed that there is an association known as ‘Telangana State RMP PMP Welfare Association‘, which issues ID cards to such unqualified practitioners.
During a recent raid, officials seized an ID card of a quack, Madhu Kumar, who practises in Machapur village in Warangal district. An FIR was lodged against the quack for running a first-aid centre and medical shops where he prescribed steroid injections, high-priced antibiotics and maintained beds with in-patients against the norms. According to officials, Madhu Kumar did not have the required qualifications and no documents to prove that it was a registered centre.
Meanwhile, a police complaint has been lodged against the quack for using cards with the prefix Dr. A complaint has also been lodged against the association for violating the norms.
Furthermore, the president of the association, Kailash, escaped during a raid on a medical camp organised by quacks earlier this month.
Cases were registered under Sections 34 and 54 of the NMC Act. Section 34 of the NMC Act states: “No person other than a person enrolled in the State Register or the National Register, as the case may be, shall – (a) be allowed to practise medicine as a qualified medical practitioner.”
As per the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC), only a qualified MBBS doctor registered with the State Medical Council is allowed to use the prefix Dr. “Therefore, the use of the prefix by any other practitioner is illegal. Unless a practitioner is registered under the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC), he is not allowed to use the prefix. We have registered an FIR against the doctor at Geesugonda police station,” said Dr Naresh Kumar of the TSMC, who led the raids in the Warangal region.
