Hyderabad: A 32-year-old man was convicted of raping his daughter on multiple occasions and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 25 years.
A court on Wednesday delivered the judgment and imposed a fine of 5,000 on the convict father. The court awarded Rs 7 lakh compensation to the survivor. Police said the accused had a daughter, survivor in this case, from his first marriage. After the death of his wife, he married another woman. Along with the survivor, he was staying with his second wife and her three children. The couple made a living by picking rags.
During one night in March 2022, his second wife woke up to an unusual noise and found the accused raping his daughter. Later, the girl informed her stepmother he had also raped her in the past. Accompanied by her stepmother, the girl went to Bowenpally police station and lodged a complaint. The court took up the trial in the case, examined the girl, her stepmother, witnesses, and the medical and documentary evidence, and pronounced the accused guilty. tnn
