Vijayawada: State deputy chief minister and Panchayati Raj minister Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to ensure strict quality checks on development projects in gram panchayats under the employment guarantee scheme. Emphasising transparency, he called for proper use of funds from the 15th Finance Commission and central govt’s employment guarantee program.
On Saturday, quality inspections were conducted across 13,326 panchayats. Reviewing these projects with Panchayat Raj and rural development commissioner Krishna Teja, and employment guarantee scheme and engineering officers, Pawan reiterated the need for high standards.
For 2024-25, projects include 3,000 km of cement roads, 500 km of beautified roads, and extensive water conservation with 22,525 cattle sheds, 25,000 farm ponds, and additional water ditches.
