Railway authorities in Vijayawada division take measures to manage crowd this festive season

Vijayawada: Railway authorities in Vijayawada division have implemented comprehensive measures to manage crowds during the festive and holiday season. The division made extensive arrangements across security, commercial, and operating departments.
The division conducted a guided media tour at Vijayawada railway station on Tuesday to showcase their preparedness. Officials detailed their arrangements for handling the increased passenger flow during festivals. In response to heightened travel demands during Diwali and Chath Puja, Vijayawada division has arranged 850 special trains and additional coaches on existing routes.
Station director Md Ali Khan and M Sailaja explained the extensive preparations. The division has initiated 40 special train services and established extra UTS & PRS counters at major stations. Help desks staffed with ticket-checking personnel have been set up to assist travellers.
The division has increased RPF deployment and ticket-checking staff to manage queues effectively. The teams are monitoring reserved coaches and preventing unauthorised travel. The authorities are maintaining strict vigilance on cleanliness and water supply at stations, round the clock.
A dedicated war room has been operating at the command control centre with officers working in shifts. The division has implemented night patrolling and inspection drives throughout the festival period. Catering services have been enhanced both at stations and on trains in coordination with the IRCTC.
Moreover, the RPF has strengthened security measures including expanded CCTV surveillance, increased personnel deployment in station areas and trains, enhanced vigilance against suspicious activities, and public security awareness campaigns.
