Hostel guard beats up two class 5 boys

Vijayawada: Two class V students, who were staying at an SC Boys Hostel in Pedanandipadu mandal of Guntur district, were beaten severely by their hostel watchman, leaving one of them with a minor head injury and the other sustaining visible bruises on his leg.
According to sub inspector Addanki Madhu Pawan, both the boys, Mohan Aditya (12) and his brother Jyothi Rajesh (11), are natives of Amaravati in Guntur. While their father is a farmer, their mother is a private employee in Guntur. Both of them were admitted to zilla parishad high school in Pedanandipadu and were staying in the SC boys hostel adjacent to the school.
After the Diwali holidays, the boys were brought to the school by their mother. As they were refusing to go to school, she handed them over to watchman Kamalakar (32), who assaulted them. The incident came to light when local car drivers noticed the injured children and immediately informed the police. They then took both the students to a primary health centre (PHC) in Pedanandipadu for initial treatment.
The SI, who investigated the matter at the PHC, recommended the children be shifted to Govt General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur for further medical care. The students received first aid and are stable. Police registered a case and are investigating.
