Hyderabad:City police commissioner C.V. Anand held a meeting with around 350 members from the central peace and welfare committees here on Friday. They discussed the recent sensitive religious issues in the city, even as the committee members condemned the untoward incidents.
Anand stressed the need for forging strong relationships among committees and the police in handling peace and security amidst challenges. He said that while the peace committees play a crucial role in ensuring order, their involvement, with support from the police, in maintaining harmony is also needed.
The committees proposed community engagement programs to promote understanding among different religious groups. They also emphasised the importance of addressing misinformation that could potentially lead to social disturbances. They pledged to conduct workshops to instill unity and combat anti-social activities.
