Porsche Driver: Porsche Driver Charged for Crash Without Number Plate in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Police are filing additional charges against the Porsche driver for operating without a displayed number plate in Friday’s Banjara Hills accident. The driver, Utsav Kumar Chaterjee, lost control near Basavatharakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, resulting in a series of collisions.
“The driver will be held responsible for not using the number plate despite having a registration number,” said ACP Venkat Reddy. Though no plate was visible on the damaged vehicle, investigators later discovered a broken one inside the car.
The accident occurred when the Porsche, a wedding gift from Chaterjee’s uncle, hit multiple structures – first a footpath, then a boundary wall, followed by KBR Park’s grill fence, before finally striking a tree. The impact severely damaged the car’s front portion and wheels.
After the crash, Chaterjee fled to his uncle’s house, leaving the damaged vehicle at the scene. Passersby alerted police upon discovering the abandoned Porsche. Investigators traced Chaterjee using the broken number plate and vehicle’s chassis number.
Police have booked him under multiple sections: BNS 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving), Motor Vehicle Act section 184, and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. Though released after initial questioning, Chaterjee is expected to be summoned again as the investigation continues.
“He got scared and fled from the spot fearing police might nab him,” officials said, explaining his immediate departure from the accident scene.
