The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu has recently announced the coveted TTD board chairman and its members who will govern the functions of the largest Hindu temple in Tirumala hills. The initial announcement was made with 24 members including the chairman BR Naidu, who is a media baron and businessman.
On Friday, the government officially announced the complete list of TTD Board with 29 members. Surprisingly, firebrand BJP leader Bhanu Prakash Reddy, who is also an official spokesperson from the saffron party, has been inducted into the prestigious board as the 25th member. In addition, four bureaucrats have been named as Ex-officio members. So, the new TTD board comprises 29 Members.
Bhanu Prakash Reddy, who is known for his vocal and assertive press meets against political opponents, was a former member of TTD. As the initial list didn’t feature any prominent leader from Andhra Pradesh BJP, the government seems to have included him before releasing the official GO to avoid any further protest from the alliance partner.
Bhanu Prakash Reddy frequently appears in media interactions. He vehemently criticised YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his government for various irregularities in Tirupati. He also criticised the previous government over adulteration of Laddu prasadam and demanded a judicial probe into the activities of TTD in the last five years.
For TTD board, Chandrababu Naidu handpicked members from varied backgrounds, different states and all three parties in the alliance to reflect the government’s commitment towards diversity. The board includes a range of professionals from different sectors like judicial, political and business. It also featured representatives from Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat..
