YS Sharmila Spends Night in Party Office in Vijayawada to Avoid House Arrest | Vijayawada News


NEW DELHI: In a surprising turn of events in Andhra Pradesh, state Congress chief YS Sharmila Reddy decided to spend the night in her party office in Vijayawada to avoid being put under house arrest. This move comes ahead of the ‘Chalo Secretariat‘ protest planned by the Congress cadre under her leadership.
The protest aims to draw attention to the issues faced by unemployed youth and students, demanding action from the state government.YS Sharmila expressed her disappointment in chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s failure to address these important concerns over the past five years.

Taking to her X account, she questioned the government’s attempt to restrict their right to protest, emphasizing the need for democracy and expressing her frustration at having to evade the police. She further criticized the state government, accusing them of trying to suppress their movement and hide their incompetence. Despite the obstacles, she assured that their struggle on behalf of the unemployed will continue.

The newly elected Andhra Congress state president also spoke out against the government’s actions, highlighting the heavy police presence and the arrest of those standing up for the unemployed. Congress in charge of Andhra Pradesh, Lok Sabha MP Manickam Tagore, condemned the government’s dictatorial approach and called for the upholding of democratic rights.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Congress committee Headquarters in Vijayawada is under tight police surveillance to maintain law and order after the Congress’ call to march to the Secretariat.
