Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Calls for Comprehensive University Revamp in Telangana |

Revamp univs to boost standards: CM

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday advised vice-chancellors of universities in the state to conduct a comprehensive study. If required, they should hire consultancies to prepare a report on the functioning of the universities and improve education and research standards.
He said this when newly appointed vice-chancellors of the universities in the state, led by Telangana Council of Higher Education ((TGCHE) chairman V Balakista Reddy, called on him on Saturday. Universities should be revamped as they have been losing their reputation of late. Keep an eye to ensure that drugs and ganja do not enter the campuses, he added.
“Work hard to instil confidence in the universities, which are losing their reputation for some time now. Systems have collapsed in the universities. There is a need to enhance the reliability of the universities,” Revanth Reddy said.
“New vice-chancellors were appointed without any influence as the selection was done purely on the basis of merit and social equations. Strive hard and bring laurels to the state. The govt will not hesitate to take stringent action if anything goes wrong,” the chief minister said during the meet.
In the same breath, Revanth said vice-chancellors were given liberty to perform and do good work. “The govt will always support those who do excellent work,” he added.
“Universities should be revamped 100%. In the past, students used to remember the vice-chancellors for years. Now, the situation is not the same. There is a need to pay special attention to drugs and ganja trafficking in the universities. Keep a vigil on students and provide counselling to them,” he said.
