CM A Revanth Reddy counters PM Narendra Modi’s jumla jibe, says Telangana ‘rising’

HYDERABAD: Reacting sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism that the Congress govt in Telangana has failed to fulfil its promises, especially to farmers, chief minister A Revanth Reddy Saturday said every promise made by Congress was a sacred commitment to the people and that all the promises were being implemented.
Claiming that he is more than willing to clarify “misconceptions and factual errors” in PM’s remarks, Revanth said after the Congress govt took over in Dec last year, it started implementing keypromises. “A wave of joy and hope has swept the state after a near decade of BRS misrule,” the CM said in a post on X in response to the PM’s post on his social media handle.
In his post on Friday, Modi targeted the Congress and accused it of making promises it cannot fulfil. He said that unkept promises were hurting farmers and that the developmental trajectory and fiscalhealth were turning from bad to worse in Congress-ruled states of Telangana, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.
Revanth said within two days of taking charge, the govt kicked off its first two promises. “Free bus travel for women across all TGSRTC buses and a healthcare and hospitalisation cover of Rs 10 lakh under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme. In the last 11 months, our sisters and mothers of Telangana have travelled without paying a single rupee in TGSRTC buses, undertaking over 101 crore free bus trips in the state, saving Rs 3,433 crore in less than a year,” he said.
The CM said even before completing the first year in office, the Congress govt implemented India’s largest-ever farmer loan waiver.
