NEW DELHI: At least four people died, and one was injured after being electrocuted on Sunday while preparing for the inauguration of a statue of Pappanna Goud in Taatitarru village, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, five individuals were affected during the preparations, resulting in the loss of four lives, while one person was hospitalized.
The deceased have been identified as Bolla Veerraju, Pamarthi Nagendra, Marishetti Manikantha, and Kasagani Krishna. Their bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Tanuku for autopsy.
The fifth individual, Komati Anantha Rao, is currently hospitalized.
The cause of electrocution is under investigation.
CM Naidu announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to provide the best medical care for the injured person.
Naidu further announced that the government will provide Rs 5 lakhs to each family of the deceased and offered his condolences to those who lost loved ones.
