HYDERABAD: A. Vani Prasad, principal secretary of the labour department, Andhra Pradesh, narrowly escaped a road accident in Suryapet district on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway on Monday morning.
The incident occurred when the officer was on her way to Vijayawada from Hyderabad, said police. Vani Prasad was recently allotted to Andhra Pradesh, prior to which she served in Telangana for a decade.
According to police, while passing Munagala, the driver of Vani Prasad’s vehicle swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting another vehicle coming in the opposite direction on the wrong route.
In the process, he rear-ended another car moving towards Vijayawada and then went off the road, coming to a halt in the fields abutting the highway.
However, Vani Prasad and her driver escaped unhurt in the incident, said D Ramakrishna Reddy, circle inspector, Munagala.
