
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada came alive with canine charm as 24 different dog breeds, from German Shepherds to Dachshunds, showcased their talents at the annual Vijayawada Dog Show.

Organised by the Kennel Association of Vijayawada, the event took place at Shamrock International School‘s campus in Kanuru, drawing nearly 120 dogs from four districts across the state.

The show categorised the participants into five groups according to breed, with Saint Bernards, Bull Mastiffs, Great Danes, and other large breeds dominating the event.

Siberian Huskies and the rare Akita breed were particular crowd favourites, captivating dog lovers with their unique appearances and playful demeanour.

Many owners dressed their pets in colourful costumes, adding to the lively atmosphere.

K. Praveen Kumar, a judge from Hyderabad, evaluated the dogs based on criteria such as body structure, growth, walking style, and responsiveness to commands.

A total of 43 prizes were awarded to top-performing canines.

The event celebrated the bond between pets and their owners, drawing a large crowd of enthusiastic dog lovers eager to support and appreciate the impressive range of participating breeds.
