In a perplexing and troubling case from Hyderabad, a woman lodged a police complaint against her husband, alleging forced marriage and harassment. The incident took a dramatic turn as the woman, who had recently returned from London, went directly to the police station upon her arrival to report her grievances.
The woman, whose identity remains confidential, filed her complaint at the Film Nagar Police Station, detailing a harrowing series of events. She claimed that she was subjected to coercion and extortion by her husband, whom she initially met through social media. Their relationship, which began with promises of marriage, quickly soured as the accused began demanding money. In a desperate act of support, the woman reportedly provided him with jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh, intending to help him financially.
However, the situation escalated when the husband began to distance himself from her. Alarmingly, he allegedly resorted to blackmail, threatening to share her private photos and videos online unless she complied with his demands. Under immense pressure, the woman felt compelled to marry him in a private ceremony conducted by Arya Samaj.
Following the secret marriage, the couple travelled to the UK together, with the husband obtaining a dependent visa. Unfortunately, once they arrived in the UK, the woman claimed that her husband’s behaviour turned abusive, both physically and mentally.
The police have registered her complaint and are currently investigating the matter.
