Last Chance for Voter Registration: Teacher and Graduate MLC Seats | Hyderabad News

Voter registration for graduate and teacher MLC seats ends today

As of Monday, 235,576 applications were received from 4 legacy dists. Karimnagar recorded the highest number of applications at 117,129
Hyderabad: Voter registration for teacher and graduate MLC constituencies in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, and Medak has seen a significant increase, 2,40,000 voters from the previous 1,90,000. As the registration ends on Wednesday, election officials expect 30,000 more voters might complete their enrolment. Enrolment is being done across 271 mandals within the newly established 15 districts since Sept 30.
Despite the rise in voters compared to previous years, MLC aspirants believe that approximately half the eligible graduates were yet to apply. To address this, special teams have been established to assist in enrolling the remaining graduates. With the application deadline ending in a few hours, officials were urging eligible voters to submit their applications without delay.
Aspiring MLC candidates are engaging in a ‘missed call’ campaign to encourage participation in the polls. Special teams are tasked with collecting degree, provisional certificates, and voter IDs from graduates to facilitate online applications.
Of the 235,576 applications, 103,234 have been approved thus far, while 7,956 have been rejected for various reasons. Additionally, 124,386 applications were pending. Many applicants are currently residing in Hyderabad and other locations for employment purposes. Following online applications, booth level officers (BLOs) were expected to conduct home visits for certificate verification after which draft electoral rolls would be published on Nov 23.
