Vijayawada: The NTR district development coordination and monitoring committee (DISHA), led by MP Kesineni Sivanath, announced focused efforts to achieve 100% implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and upgrade healthcare facilities in the district.
In a DISHA meeting held at the Pingali Venkaiah Hall in the district collector’s office on Tuesday, MP Kesineni emphasised the importance of safe drinking water and quality healthcare as key priorities for the district’s development.
During the meeting, officials discussed the Jal Jeevan Mission’s progress, with NTR district currently ranked fifth in implementation under the previous administration. Determined to secure full coverage in the coming year, district officials are preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) to ensure every household has access to clean and safe drinking water. “We’re working to complete the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme 100 per cent by next year, delivering reliable water connections to all homes in the district,” MP Kesineni said.
On healthcare, the committee reviewed plans to enhance facilities across the district, including a major upgrade for the Govt General Hospital (GGH) in Vijayawada. The MP highlighted an ongoing dialogue with the Union health ministry to secure ₹130 crore for the hospital’s development, aiming to expand services and upgrade medical infrastructure. He assured that the committee would continue working to bring state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to residents.
In addition to these main projects, the DISHA committee also reviewed initiatives in education, rural connectivity, and agricultural support. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of providing playgrounds in every school was discussed, with a comprehensive evaluation of educational needs planned for the near future. Under the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, efforts to improve road connectivity in rural areas were also outlined.
Further, officials emphasised promoting natural farming practices and expanding employment opportunities in agriculture. MP Keshineni revealed plans to establish a food processing and agricultural cluster in Tiruvuru through the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), which will provide skills training and job creation for youth and farmers.
The committee concluded with a commitment to ensuring that all central schemes are fully implemented across NTR district, fostering sustainable development and employment in rural areas. MSID:: 114983620 413 |
