The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has finally made its global debut at EICMA 2024. The bike is expected to make its way to India, though its official launch details have yet to be revealed. It is anticipated that the company might announce its prices at the Royal Enfield Motoverse in Vagator, Goa. The annual three-day festival is slated to take place from 22nd to 24th November 2024. The RE Classic 650 comes in four dual-tone color options: Vallam Red, Black Chrome, Bluntingthorpe Blue, and Teal.
Underpinned by a tubular steel frame, the RE Classic 650 uses the same 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine, delivering a claimed power output of 47.6PS and 52.3Nm of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed unit with a slipper clutch. This engine-gearbox combination is also available on the RE 650 twins. Suspension duties are handled by conventional 43mm telescopic front forks and twin shocks with preload adjustment at the rear. The bike features 320mm front and 300mm rear disc brakes, along with dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system).
The new Classic 650 rides on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, shod with 100-section front and 140-section rear tires. The bike has a ground clearance of 154mm and offers a fuel tank capacity of 14.3 liters. Its seat height is 800mm, and it has a kerb weight of 243kg.
When launched, the Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be one of the most affordable 650cc offerings from the Chennai-based bikemaker in India. Prices are likely to start around Rs 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Recently, Royal Enfield introduced its EV sub-brand, Flying Fleawith the C6 being the first electric bike under this subsidiary. The e-bike is lightweight, thanks to the extensive use of forged aluminum and plastic. The Flying Flea C6 features a round LED headlight, panels resembling a fuel tank, cooling fins, and a battery pack mounted in place of the engine. It has been assembled with 19-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tires. In terms of features, the Royal Enfield electric bike includes a round TFT console (borrowed from the RE Guerrilla 450) with turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone connectivity.
