Kia Clavis, the all-new sub-4 metre SUV from the South Korean automaker, has been teased ahead of its official debut. It will be the brand’s first Made-in-India SUV under Kia’s 2.0 strategy, which emphasizes enhancing vehicle design and technology. The carmaker describes the Clavis as “a new species of SUV,” featuring Kia’s Design 2.0 philosophy and deriving styling elements from the Let’s EV9 and the new Carnival Limousine.
The official teaser shows its silhouette and tall-boy stance. Notable features include vertically positioned LED DRLs, a flat roofline with functional roof rails, flush-style door handles, and L-shaped LED taillamps mounted on the pillars. It will also have a high-mounted stop lamp and bumper-integrated brake lights. Previous spy images reveal that the upcoming Kia compact SUV will sport the brand’s signature grille, vertically stacked projector headlamps with LED elements, LED DRLs, and four-spoke alloy wheels.
Reports suggest that the Kia Clavis will offer better rear-seat space and comfort than the Sonet. With its tall-boy stance, the compact SUV will provide plenty of headroom for all passengers. While feature details of the Clavis have yet to be revealed, the subcompact SUV is expected to include leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, traction modes, a Bose audio system, and more.
Some features will be exclusively offered on higher trims, including the ADAS suite. The Clavis’s safety kit will also consist of a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, six airbags, front parking sensors, and rear disc brakes.
The forthcoming Kia Clavis is likely to be offered with three powertrains – petrol, diesel, and electric. The petrol version is expected to feature a 1.0L turbo engine (118bhp/172Nm) and a naturally aspirated unit, while the diesel model could come with a 1.5L motor. As of now, the specifications of the Clavis EV have not been disclosed.
