Vijayawada: The minister for IT and electronics, Nara Lokesh, concluded his week-long visit to the United States of America (USA). Lokesh met representatives from over 100 companies and explained investment opportunities in the Andhra Pradesh.
During his visit from Oct 25, Lokesh held discussions with executives from Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon, Apple, Google Cloud, and Salesforce. He addressed the IT Surve Alliance Synergy Summit in Las Vegas on Oct 29, where representatives from 2,300 small and medium enterprises across 23 countries were present.
Lokesh also engaged with the US-India Business Council and the Indian diaspora and highlighted the state’s digital governance initiatives and ease of doing business policies.
It is recalled that prior to the US visit, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had committed to establishing a unit in Visakhapatnam. The unit was expected to create 10,000 jobs. HCL technologies also agreed to expand its operations in the state, with plans to employ 15,000 people.
The IT minister held meetings with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) representatives and the AP IT association delegates in Visakhapatnam since assuming office on June 24. Sources close to Lokesh said that these interactions helped in re-establishing contacts with the industry. State govt is aiming at attracting significant investments and positioning the state as a preferred investment destination at the upcoming World Economic Forum Summit – 2025.
