TIRUPATI: Ruling TDP has now exposed a massive mortgage releases scam at the Nellore municipal corporation and alleged that top leaders in the previous YSRCP govt in connivance with some bureaucrats had reportedly siphoned off funds to the tune of Rs.62 crore from the Nellore civic body.
Substantiating his allegations with documentary evidence, TDP spokesperson Anam Venkataramana Reddy said about 73 suspicious mortgage releases took place at the Nellore municipal corporation between October of 2022 to May of 2024.And a sum of approximately Rs.61.96 crore was misappropriated through improper mortgage releases.
Anam accused former Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and minister Botsa Satyanarayana of orchestrating the mortgage releases scam in connivance with some bureaucrats who were instructed on methods to embezzle hundreds of crores of rupees through illegitimate means.
The TDP spokesperson stated that murky mortgage releases that took place during the tenures of former Nellore municipal commissioners D Haritha and Vikas Marmat needs to be thoroughly investigated to get to the bottom of the scam. Anam recalled that outsiders like Tammineni Bharat Raju, who had no official function at the Nellore municipal corporation, were allowed to sign on mortgage releases, which further substantiates the unholy nexus between the officials and the outsiders.
Expressing concerns over acts of sabotage being reported at various govt offices across the state in the last couple of months, Anam urged the Nellore collector and municipal commissioner to initiate stringent measures to safeguard files at the civic body before a suspicious fire mishap breaks out.
The TDP spokesperson urged the state govt to immediately order a thorough investigation into this mortgage releases scam at the Nellore civic body and bring all the culprits involved to book.
