Vijayawada: The state govt is making arrangements for the trial run of seaplane in Vijayawada on Saturday at Punnami Chat in the city.
A 10-seater seaplane will be operated on a trial basis between Vijayawada and Srisailam.
The AP Airports Development Corporation (APADC) is arranging floating platforms, seating arrangements and other amenities at the seaplane landing and take-off bertha on the upstream of Prakasam Barrage.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu will board the plane and travel to Srisailam.
Vijayawada municipal commissioner Dhyanchandra, AP Maritime Board CEO Praveen Aditya and sub-collector K Chaitanya are monitoring arrangements for the event. The commissioner said that seating, entry protocols, drinking water supply and temporary toilet facilities have been given top priority. Special passes will be issued to VIPs and others who wish to attend the event.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni said: “Seaplane operations will definitely boost the tourism sector in Vijayawada. People are very much excited to board a seaplane. The seaplane services will begin shortly after the successful completion of the trial run. People can witness the launch of seaplane operations as we are arranging huge LED screens at multiple locations in the city.”
