Chennai: Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin called upon the beneficiaries of the government’s welfare schemes to be brand ambassadors of the government and explain to the people the good work being done under the present DMK rule.
Speaking at an event organized in Thanjavur for inaugurating 127 completed projects worth Rs 43.55 crore and for laying the foundation for two new schemes valued at Rs 28.26 crore, besides distributing assistance to 14,525 beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, he listed the various programmes of the DMK government aimed at uplifting the lives of women in the State.
He said that he had been going around the State and was in Villupuram and Trichy districts before landing in Thanjavur, where the DMK government had started the first Tidel Neo IT Park, the first such facility outside Chennai.
Stating that women SHGs had been extended credit to the tune of Rs 95,176 crore in the past three and a half years of DMK rule and in continuation of that he had given bank loans of Rs 68 crore to 1000 SHGs at the event.
