Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan received a death threat, Mumbai Police confirmed. News18 has learned that the death threat was received via a phone call on Tuesday evening, November 5, at 8 PM. The caller identified himself as ‘Hindustani’ and claimed that he made the call while standing outside Mannat, Shah Rukh Khan’s home in Mumbai.
The caller called the police station and said, “I am calling Shahrukh from Mannat Bandstand. If he doesn’t give me 50 lakhs, I will kill him.” When the police asked him enquired about the motive behind the threat and the identity of the man, the caller said, “It doesn’t matter, if you want to mention, you can write my name as Hindustani.”
Sources informed News18 that a Mumbai Police team has gone to Raipur to investigate. A case was registered against an unidentified person at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai for allegedly giving a threat to actor Shah Rukh Khan. Offence u/s 308(4), 351(3)(4) BNS registered. No arrest has been made yet.
Shah Rukh Khan is yet to react to the death threat.
The Bollywood superstar has been surrounded by tight security for a while now. The actor, in 2023, had stated that he was getting death threats after the success of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’. In October 2023, Shah Rukh was provided Y+ security.
Shah Rukh faced the death threat just days after his friend, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was subjected to a new death threat. The actor, who is tackling death threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the blackbuck poaching, received a new threat message via the Mumbai traffic control room earlier this month. According to reports, the man who threatened the actor asked Salman to pay Rs 5 crore or apologise at a temple. On Wednesday, it was reported that the man was arrested. The accused has been identified as Bhikha Ram, also known as Vikram, and is a resident of Jalore in Rajasthan.
