Visakhapatnam: In a move towards enhancing passenger convenience, the Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has launched a QR code-based ticketing system across all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) locations within its jurisdiction. This new system allows passengers to make digital payments easily through UPI-based apps when purchasing tickets at railway stations.
Aligning with the Indian Railways’ mission to foster a cashless, Digital India, the Waltair Division has rolled out awareness campaigns to inform passengers about the new QR code ticketing option. This innovation provides travelers with a seamless, queue-free experience for ticket transactions. According to Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair, “The QR code technology simplifies ticket booking and offers a significant advantage for last-minute travelers, allowing them to purchase unreserved tickets quickly and digitally.” This initiative aims to make ticketing faster and more convenient, further supporting the digital transformation of India’s railway services.
