Woman arrested for attempted baby kidnapping at Sultan Bazaar hospital-Telangana Today


Askari Begum, 45, a resident of Rein Bazaar with a history of nine theft cases, attempted to steal a newborn baby from the labor room at the Government Hospital Sultan Bazaar. Alert security staff caught her in the act and handed her over to the police.

Hyderabad: The Sultan Bazaar police arrested a notorious woman thief who allegedly attempted to take away a baby after kidnapping him from the Government Hospital Sultan Bazaar on Wednesday.

The suspect Askari Begum, (45), a resident of Rein Bazaar, who was previously involved in nine cases of theft in the city, went to the labour room at the hospital and tried to take away a new born baby. The alert security personnel caught her and handed over to the police.


One person had approached Askari Begum, and offered her Rs. 50,000 if she managed to arrange baby boy. Lured by the offer, the woman went into the labour room and took the boy and try to escape when she was caught, said Sultan Bazaar Inspector, S Srinivasa Chary.
